Milan

Today we took the train for an hour ride into Milano. The station is right downtown, so we had only a few blocks to walk to the center of the city. We saw Milan's cathedral(we think it's called Mariae Nascenti, the 4th largest church in Europe. I don't know if any of you have read Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth, but if you haven't it's a wonderful book about the cathedrals being built during the middle ages mostly in England. But it gives you an appreciation of the architecture of these massive churches. We walked through the Galleria which is lined with very expensive shops--$750 for a nice pair of alligator shoes!!! Ugly, too. We sat in a couple of parks and watched people and then headed back to the train station and back to Como. Found out our credit card probably won't arrive until tomorrow(Thursday), so looks like we're here for another night. Jim has to find the Peugot car dealer tomorrow to get the tire fixed or buy a new one. I'll stay at the hotel and wait for the Fedex.
2 cents from jim------speaking about money---lets talk budget--- we would be ok but jerry insists that she have lunch every day----check out her picture above eating another gourmet sandwich AND a coke!!!I still am managing on a bagette and water---actually we have gone to a no budget and the little woman gets anything she wants---a vacation budget is a lot like a home remodeling budget---to get what you want it will cost twice the budget---and hopefully will take twice as long----so from now on i'll be talking about 4 cents from jim

  1. And the postage rate went up 2 cents here - so there you go. Actually you are lucky - it could be 5 course lunches with fine wine. EL
